On August 2, 2018 at approximately 0531 hours Kitsap County 911 received a call from an anonymous caller stating that there was a burglary in progress to a vacant commercial building in the 3600 block of West Frontage Road in unincorporated Kitsap County. This building has had a recent history of burglaries, trespasses and suspicious activity. A uniformed Kitsap County Deputy arrived on scene at approximately 0545 hours and contacted a single suspicious person in the parking lot of the mentioned building. Upon contact, that person ran from the deputy and a short foot pursuit ensued. At the conclusion of the foot pursuit, an altercation ensued and the suspect was taken into custody. Both the deputy and the suspect were injured as a result of the altercation, and both were transported from the scene by South Kitsap Fire and Rescue with potential head injuries. Both were treated at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton and released within 6 hours. Although this is an active on-going investigation, none of the injuries are considered life-threatening and no firearms are believed to have been fired during the confrontation. There is no on-going danger to the public and no other known suspects. The male suspect in his 40’s has been booked into the Kitsap County Jail on multiple charges arising from this event. His bail was initially set at $100,000.
