Collective Visions Gallery presented a final event of the Annual CVG Show on Friday, February 24. During this event, the winner of the CVG Raffle and the "People's Choice" Award was announced. Rhino Bust by Jeffro Uitto was selected for the "People's Choice" award. Uitto's, Rhino Bust, also won the Mayor's Award.
Viewers have been casting ballots for the "People's Choice" award since the show’s opening. This award of $300 is provided by the West Sound Arts Council.
The CVG Show is a statewide juried art show, and this year’s show displayed 126 quality works of art (out of 700 submissions) in three different categories: two dimensional art, three dimensional art, and photo/digital art. The two jurors selected three prize winners from each category, and additionally selected the “Best of Show” winning artwork. Members of the Cultural Arts Foundation chose two artworks (a tie) for “The Best of Kitsap” award, and there was also a purchase award. The prize and award money totaled nearly $9000.
This year’s show also featured a raffle for a basket of very significant prizes, including a one night stay for two in a deluxe guest room at the Salish Lodge, provided by Columbia Hospitality, as well as several bottles of wine, and several artworks provided by members of the gallery.
The evening ended with a talk by Bremerton’s Mayor Patty Lent, who discussed Bremerton’s relation to art in the city.
