Reservoir 21 Coating Replacement

Project Status (Updated November 7, 2017)

The exterior project was completed in October 2017.

During final inspection of the Exterior Coating Replacement, it was determined that the interior coating was failing and needed to be replaced before being able to refill the reservoir. Sabelhaus West Inc. has been awarded the unanticipated/emergent contract and the project will be completed by the end of November 2017.

Reservoir 21 is a 3-million gallon potable water reservoir located off of SR 3 near the Austin Drive exit. The exterior coating is failing and should be replaced in order to maintain the longevity of the reservoir. The reservoir was last coated on the exterior in 1996. The exterior of the reservoir will be abrasive blasted in entirety and coated with a primer, epoxy coat, and top coat of polyurethane.

The project is fully funded by water rates in 2017.

The project is anticipated to start in early May, which will consist of constructing a scaffold and containment system. Actual blasting and coating will not occur until after June 15, with completion projected for late August.
